What is the Parenting Center?  The Parenting Center promotes healthy family development by providing ongoing workshops to parents, teachers and community groups to increase their knowledge and skills in the areas of parenting, child development and child abuse prevention.

Groups for children, teens and tots focusing on social skills, school issues, family transitions, fostering creativity and coping with everyday stressors.

Parenting classes and professional workshops for parents, teachers and community groups focused on child development, strategies for effective parenting and a variety of classes that teach proactive methods that promote healthy social emotional growth in children.

CLASSES FOR PARENTS -  CALL 330-6333 TO PRE-REGISTER FOR CLASSES

ANGER MANAGEMENT FOR PARENTS #1 Cost: $20 
Anger is a normal emotion. Children learn early which one of our "buttons to press." Learn methods of dealing with one's anger as well as children's anger in a healthy, constructive manner. For parents of all age children. 
Session 1: Tues, January 24  from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Session 2: Tues, January 31  from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
 
Anger Management for Parents #2 Cost: $20
Session 1: Tues, March 20 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Session 2: Tues, March 27 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
 
 
Setting Limits for Young Children #1 Cost: $25 individual/$40 couple
A three session workshop to provide parents with options and techniques for care of their young children ages 2-4 years old.  Learn effective and loving ways to discipline children, as well as instructions on fostering self-esteem, handling bedtime battles, potty training and making the most of time with your child.
 
Session 1: Wed, January 18 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Session 2: Wed, January 25 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Session 3: Wed,  February 1 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
 
Setting Limits for Young Children #2 
Session:1 Wed, April 18 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Session:1 Wed, April 25 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Session:1 Wed, May 2 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
 
PARENTING THE STRONG WILLED CHILD Cost $10 (Pick 1 of 3 dates) 
Is your child strong-willed?  This class will focus on the causes of the strong-willed temperament, discipline techniques that work with strong-willed children and learning how to avoid power struggles with your strong-willed child. 
Tuesday, February 7 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. or
Wedesday, March 7 from 6:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. or
Tuesday, April 10 from 6:00 p.m. to 8 p.m

Parenting Turbulent Tweens and Teens Cost $10

This class is for parents of children 12- 17.  This class will help parents learn how to shift gears into the role of parenting a teen.  Parents will gain insight into their teen's world and learn how to positively approach negative behaviors.  Parents of difficult or defiant teens will find this class especially helpful.

Wednesday, February 15 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Parenting Children with ADHD $20 

This workshop will focus on techniques for parenting children with ADHD.

Session 1: Thurs, February 9 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Session 2: Thurs, February 16 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

 PARENTING TOGETHER WHILE LIVING APART/TRANSPARENTING: Cost: $65
A seminar designed to assist divorced or divorcing parents with their concerns about divorce and the effects of divorce on their children. Issues concerning emotional loss, self-care, co-parenting, custody, legal and economic aspects and conflict resolution will be covered. 
All PTWLA classes will start at 4:30 p.m. and end at 8:00 p.m.

SUPERVISED VISITATION
Supervised Visitation provides contact between a non-custodial parent, and one or more children in the presence of a third person. This person is responsible for observing and seeking to ensure the safety of all those involved.

This service is available when the court has determined that supervised visitation occur in an environment that provides a high level of safety and security for custodial and non-custodial parent and child.

Clients must be court ordered to attend supervised visitation.

Program fees are based on a sliding scale as follows:
12,000 and below- $50.00
13,000-20,000- $60.00
21,000-32,000- $70.00
32,000 and above- $80.00

We are a state-approved provider for training of childcare directors and staff members. Please contact The Parenting Center (924-0123) for additional information. Look forward to a fun-filled day of activities and new learning techniques to utilize with children. *CLASSES THIS QUARTER ARE FREE for Class B Centers!  Saturdays 9:30-12:30 (3 Education Credit Hours per 3-hour session.)
